The Dot Board

This cutting board was a little artsy idea that popped into my head one day. I like the idea of using exotic, colored woods in odd situations like this. I used AutoCAD to draw up all of the circles and create the code for my CNC router to read. The router cut out the pockets and the dots. Then I could glue the dots in place. I had to do this in three stages so that some of the dots could overlap. The board itself is maple while the dots are made of bloodwood, osage orange, purple heart, and wenge.

This board is being donated to my nephews preschool for a silent auction. If you're interested in something similar, send me an email and we can work something out.
